Feel the Heat

man reading a book on fire

Ray Bradbury published his science fiction classic Fahrenheit 451 in 1953, and it instantly became a sensation all around the world. Since that first publication, the book has been adapted into Hollywood films, multiple theater productions, comic books, and even an early computer game. From June 22- July 7, you have the opportunity to see a new stage production of the classic tale directed by the very talented Sam Tillis. This production takes place at the Potrero Stage which is only about 15 minutes from the Alpine Inn & Suites. Written during the height of McCarthyism, Fahrenheit 451, named after the temperature at which paper burns, tells the story of fireman Guy Montag who burns books for a living. After meeting a new friend, Montag questions his way of life and ultimately decides to dedicate his life to saving the very books that he once burned. Fahrenheit 451 is a celebration of the knowledge and fun that literature brings to the human experience.
